Boys from New Longton Scouts complete Yorkshire Three Peaks for Ugandan community

Marco Blackledge, Alex Paterson and Harrison Turner climbed the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise funds fo rtheir trip to Uganda with West Lancs Scouts

Harrison Turner, 15, Alex Paterson, 16, both of New Longton and Marco Blackledge, 15, of Lostock Hall, have been tasked with raising Â£450 each for a three-week trip to Uganda with West Lancashire Scouts.The boys, who attend Hutton Grammar School and are members of New Longton Scouts, raised more than Â£1,000 through sponsorship and are delighted to put this towards supporting families in Uganda.

We will provide hot meals as some times this is the only hot meal a child will get in the day.“We will also raise funds for a borehole drill to create a well for the village to access water.“I feel really excited about the trip and being able to help people who are less fortunate than me.“The three peaks was quite tough at times but very rewarding when we got to the top.“So far we have raised Â£1,000. I feel really proud as we have worked so hard. We have other fund-raising events planned, including a charity car wash and a band night on November 24.”

The car wash will take place at All saints Church, New Longton, on Saturday September 15, from 10am. Minimum donation Â£5.
