BOGUS officials stole a laptop and cash from a man’s house after offering to do gutter repairs.

Police are appealing for information following the incident in Fulwood, Preston and said they are treating is “seriously”

It happened at around 3pm on Friday December 19 at Hollins Grove.

It is believed that two men approached the house offering to do guttering repairs.

While one of the men distracted the victim in the rear of the address, the other entered the house, stealing property and cash.

The pair have made off with around £150 in cash and a Sony laptop.

They are both described as white; the first is early 40s with a thick set build, 5ft 8ins, unshaven with a chinstrap beard wearing a blue and black lumberjack jacket and black flying hat with flaps.

The second is man is thought to be in his early 20s, he is 6ft tall, of a thin build with dark brown hair gelled to one side wearing a black ‘Duck and Cover’ jacket

The vehicle they drove was a white pick-up style with a cab front and a meshed cage on the rear with the words GSS on the cab door.

Det Sgt Jerry Sturgess of Preston CID said: “We are treating this seriously as the man has been targeted in his own home.

“The van used appears quite distinctive so someone locally should know of its whereabouts.

“We urge anyone with any information at all please to come forward. ”
