BMW i8 crashes and bursts into flames near Leyland

A BMW has crashed and caught fire in Ulnes Walton near Leyland this evening (August 1).

The BMW i8 crashed in Ulnes Walton Lane, near the junction with Moss Lane and close to the grounds of HM Prisons Wymott and Garth, at around 6pm.

The car - which can reach speeds of up to 155mph and retails for around £114,00 - then burst into flames before emergency services arrived at the scene.

The road remains partially blocked whilst emergency services attend the scene.

It is not known at this stage whether anyone has been injured in the crash.

Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.
