Lancashire’s new bishop the Rt Rev Julian Henderson has embarked on a phase of his learning about the diocese he now represents with a tour that will eventually see him meet with every member of the parish clergy in the county.

This evening, St John’s Church in Whittle-le-Woods, will play host to a special deanery service from 7pm to 9pm to officially close the bishop’s visit to the Chorley area.

The bishop’s latest series of visits have been inserted periodically into his diary over the next year and each will last about three to four days each.

The first was in the Chorley deanery from March 17-20. His Chorley tour has been facilitated by the Area Dean, Rev Tim Wilby from St George’s Church, taking in parishes in central Chorley, as well as Euxton, Charnock Richard, Eccleston, Croston, Bretherton, Brindle, Appley Bridge, Coppull, Heapey and Withnell and Whittle-le-Woods, Standish, Shevington, Wrightington and Parbold,
