Big turnout in Lancashire as fund-raisers take part in Sports Relief mile

Fundraisers from across the county joined in with a sponsored Sport Relief Mile this weekend.

Crowds came together in Preston’s Avenham and Miller Park yesterday for the event, with those taking part encouraged to walk, jog, run or skip the circuit along the banks of the River Ribble.

The Chorley Mile was held in Astley Park yesterday, as part of the weekend of events around Lancashire in aid of Sport Relief.

People could run or walk one, three or six miles through Astley Park and raise money for the charity.

On Friday, a Preston call centre supported the cause by volunteering to help take donations.

Staff from HomeServe’s call centre in Fulwood were receiving donation calls on Friday evening, joining colleagues at the Walsall head office.
