Bad weather takes it toll on all things great and small

The weather this weekend was too wet even for ducks.

On the same weekend Farington Fun Day had to be scrapped because of downpours, reader Geoffrey Guy sent in this picture of a mallard protecting her ducklings from the rain.

And although today isn’t looking any better, the forecast does pick up as the week goes on.

According to the MET Office, some showers may continue to break out into the evening before largely dying out overnight. It’ll be noticeably cooler and less humid than last night for most with a minimum temperature of 11°C.

Further showers are possible tomorrow, although these likely less heavy than today’s. It should be a little less cloudy, and less breezy than today.

Wednesday and Thursday will still see some sunny spells and showers. It will be cloudier on Friday with rain possible over high ground.
