Award success for Evening Post journalists

The Evening Post’s investigations reporter Aasma Day has  been named Specialist Writer of the Year.

She scooped the award at the O2 Media Awards NorthWest, held at Chester Race Course.

The Lancashire Evening Post received a Highly Commended in the Newspaper of the Year category, and were also Highly Commended in Team of the Year.

Photographer Ian Robinson was also Highly Commended.

Our sister paper the Blackpool Gazette also received a highly commended for the sports reporting of Will Watt, who has followed the trials and tribulations of Blackpool FC.

Our sister paper the Lancaster Guardian was also Highly Commended in the community journalism award.

Nicola Green, Director of Communications and Reputation at O2 UK, said the judging panel was hugely impressed by journalists working across different media organisations in the North West.

“Congratulations to those who made the final line up, but also a huge thank you to everyone who entered this year’s competition.

“The evening was a celebration of some superb journalism and a reminder of how important the regional media is to local communities.”
