ASBO man had 25 police complaints upheld

David Beaver, 50, of Tulketh Crescent, Ashton, was convicted of breaching his ASBO – imposed for making nuisance calls to police and for threatening neighbours – by making “unnecessary and persistent calls to the force’s data protection unit”.

Preston’s magistrates gave him a jail term of six weeks suspended for 12 months.

He says he made 13 calls in three months and maintains he was trying to get information about a man who assaulted him and left him with a suspected broken jaw who he wants to pursue a civil claim against.

But today he also revealed how before the period of his conviction, he made 25 other complaints – some of them being complaints to the Independent Police Complaints Commission and the Information Commissioner that the force had not recorded complaints he had made to them or hadn’t responded to queries within 40 days.

Today Mr Beaver said: “People need to see that some of my previous complaints were upheld.

“I referred them to the IPCC and Information Commissioner’s office and 25 were upheld, but three were not.”
