An appeal to find the trike was shared 12,000 times on social media after it was taken on Wednesday morning from the home of Keaton Seed in Brackenbury Road, Fulwood.

The trike helps strengthen muscles in Keaton’s legs, after he was born with a condition meaning he will never walk.

But because of the state it was discovered in, his family say they have no option but to replace it with another bespoke piece of equipment costing in the region of £1,300.

Now his auntie Kelly Seed has set up a crowdfunding page to raise the cash, which attracted £900 in the first three hours.

Dad Paul, 37, said: “After the appeal went out I had a lot of messages on Facebook from people telling me they’d seen the bike in Ribbleton.

“Then I got a text saying it had been found in Preston Cemetery. I was at work, so my mum and dad went to pick it up and found that it had been taken apart.

“Someone’s taken it just to destroy it, and that makes me feel even worse.

“The cost to replace all the bits will cost as much as getting a whole new bike. And also it’s tarnished now for us.

“Keaton was gutted when it was taken and he’s seen it now all smashed up. He doesn’t understand why he can’t use it now.”

He added: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the Justigiving page, we can’t believe how many good people are out there who want to help.”
