It is believed he had wandered out of a nearby domestic property.

Police had earlier said it was believed he had climbed over the school gates to get in.

The boy was identified and his family contacted. He was returned to them safe and well.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “The child has now been reunited with his grandparents.”
