Air ambulance called to motorway crash

An overturned caravan has closed part of the M6 motorway.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the northbound carriageway between junction 27 at Parbold and junction 28 at Leyland at 2.21pm on Friday.

The North West Air Ambulance was sent to the scene, but police said two people suffered only minor injuries.

Lane three was been closed to allow for recovery work, and was till closed at 4.15pm.

It is not known how the caravan overturned, but no other vehicle is thought to be involved.
