Acid spill at Lancashire recycling plant

A highly corrosive acid was spilt in an incident at a recycling plant overnight.

Twenty litres of sulphuric acid was spilt in the recycling plant on Sustainability Way in Leyland in the early hours of this morning.

Fire fighters were called in to clear up the hazardous fluid at around 3.45am, donning protective gear to safely dispose of the acid.

No-one was injured in the incident and the hazard was contained within a small area inside the plant.
