FREE: Penwortham Gala, Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12

Families will enjoy the two day event, which includes a procession through Penwortham on Saturday, plus charity stalls, a fairground, burgers and popcorn and entertainment at Hurst Grange Park.

There will be an evening concert featuring top bands, supported by local talent. On Sunday activities include an open air church service, brass bands and a teddy bear’s picnic.

PAID: Tarleton Royal Party Beer Festival, Friday June 10 - Sunday June 12

Organised by The Rotary Club of Southport Links, a fun weekend is in store at Tarleton Bowling Club, Sutton Lane, with more than 30 beers and ciders. There is live music on both Friday and Saturday night and a big screen for the England v Russia match. Open Friday 3pm until midnight; Saturday noon until midnight; Sunday noon until the beer runs out. Entry is £6 and includes a glass and one drink.

FREE: American Roadshow, British Commercial Museum, Leyland, Sunday June 12

Big Rigs, Cadillacs and Chevys will roll into King Street, Leyland for a display of Stateside classic vehicles from 10am until 4.30pm.

The fun-filled event carries on the US theme with live country and western music.

The event is not for the faint-hearted, with fire eating, knife throwing and a cowboys and Indians shoot-out.

PAID: Hoghton Towers Lancashire Classic Car and Motorcycle Show, Sunday June 12

Classic Shows presents the 33rd Classic Car and Motorcycle Show at Hoghton Tower. The house is open for guided tours 11.30am to 4pm. Admission is £10 for adults and £8 for children.

PAID: Royal Garden Party, The Space Centre, Ashton, Saturday June 11

To commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday party The Space Centre, in Pedders Lane, is holding a royal garden party from 10.30am until 2.30pm.

Entry is £3 with all money going towards The Space Centre, which has sensory equipment for children with disabilities and special needs. There will be Punch and Judy, a bouncy castle, lawn games and face painting.

FREE: Samlesbury Hall plant fair, Sunday June 12

Green-fingered enthusiasts are invited to browse among a large selections of flowers, herbaceous borders and rockeries on the front lawn of Samlesbury Hall, off Preston New Road.

This will be the historic hall’s fifth annual plant fair, which starts from 11am until 4pm.

PAID: Myerscough College open day and country fair, Sunday June 12

As well as being an opportunity for prospective students to view the college, in St Michael’s Road, Bilsborrow, the fair provides a host of family entertainment from 10am until 5pm. Attractions include equestrian arena shows; motorsport, machinery and driving displays including the Steve Colley Stunt Show; a sheep show; falconry demonstration; children’s activities, a food fayre and live music.

Tickets cost £16 per family in advance online - www.www.myerscough.ac.uk.

On the gate prices £20 family, £10 adults, £5 children (aged six to 15). Children under five are free. Dogs welcome on a lead.

FREE: Classic and Vintage Power Boats, Fleetwood Model Yacht Lake, Sunday June 12

People are invited to watch a display of scale model remote controlled power boats on Fleetwood’s Model Yacht Lake, Laidley’s Walk.

There will be a mix of classic and vintage models to admire and chase around the lake.

The fun-filled event will be open from 10.30am until 3pm and is free to spectators.

FREE: St Catherine’s Hospice Picnic in the Park, Lostock Hall, Sunday June 12

St Catherine’s Hospice invites the community to the official opening of its park, in Lostock Lane, from 1pm until 5pm. The park will be officially opened at 3.30pm. Families are invited to bring a picnic along and enjoy the live music. The event also marks the Queen’s 90th birthday. There is no parking available, but people can use the park and ride at Leyland Trucks, Croston Road.

PAID: Wuthering Heights outdoor theatre, Lytham, Sunday June 12

Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents Emily Bronte’s classic love story outside Lytham Hall, Ballam Road. Gates open at 4pm for a picnic, with the play starting at 6pm. There is also a licenced bar.
