More than £100,000 worth of stolen machinery seized by Lancashire rural police

Lancashire rural police teams uncovered more than £100,000 worth of stolen plant machinery yesterday, March 20, following a recent rural burglary.

More than 70 items of suspected stolen rural machinery were uncovered by the Lancashire rural police team yesterday, March 20.

South Rural Taskforce officers seized the items that were thought to be worth more than £100,000 from a property in Merseyside.

They also arrested a male on suspicion of handling stolen goods and confirmed their enquiries are ongoing.

The news comes as Lancashire Police announced they were 'cracking down' on countryside crime with a brand new rural task force last month.

20 new officers were introduced in a bid to tackle rural crimes including livestock and machinery theft and using dogs for hunting.

A spokesperson said: "Yesterday, following a recent rural burglary, South Rural Taskforce officers attended an address in Merseyside.

"We have seized over 70 items of suspected stolen plant machinery worth over £100,000 and arrested a male on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
