When Jade Leak and Ashley Chappel married in March, they didn’t expect a white wedding.
But the harsh, early spring weather brought a blanket of snow for their big day at Stirk House in Gisburn.
They became engaged during a weekend in Edinburgh to celebrate Ashley’s 32nd birthday.
Jade had organised the trip but little did she know Ashley was planning his own surprise proposal.
Jade, 26, a beautician, said: “He proposed at The Dome and it was perfect.”
The engagement led to the planning of their big day which was everything they had dreamed about.
“We unexpectedly woke up to snow so we had a white wedding,” said Jade.
“The day really was magical and we loved it from start to finish.
“We met at the alter at 1.30pm with Christina Perry’s A Thousand Years playing.
“Afterwards, we had our wedding breakfast and to everyone’s suprise we hired silver service waiters to serve the meal.
“We all got up and had a sing and a and dance and it really lightened the atmosphere and we had a fun enjoyable day for all.”
During the evening, celebrations continued with a singer and also a photo booth.
“It really was the most special day.
“From marrying my perfect man and being surrounded by our nearest and dearest, we couldn’t of asked for a more perfect day.
“Everything went so smoothly, thanks to Danielle and Dave from Stirk House.
“ I would recommend this venue to anyone.
“We can now have a lovely happy life as husband and wife.
Ashley, 34, a builder added: “It was a fantastic day, I loved every minute but it went far too quick.
“I married by beautiful best friend.”
They now live in Wigan.
