Work is expected to take three weeks, weather permitting, for completion by Christmas.

Councillor Robert Boswell, Cabinet member for environment and community safety, said: “It’s great news that this work at the play area has finally begun. It’s been a challenging year in many aspects, which meant improvement works and upgrades such as this have been delayed.

“Improvements and enhancement with new play equipment will benefit families in the area and across Preston and we anticipate the work will be complete by Christmas.

“Huge thanks to everyone involved in the project, especially funding partners Lancashire Environmental Fund, The Harris Trust and the continuing work of the Friends of Haslam Park group.”
