He then enjoyed further success with blue-eyed soul music of The Style Council from 1983 to ’89 before establishing himself as a supreme solo artist.

Despite widespread critical recognition as a singer, lyricist and guitarist, Weller has remained a national, rather than international, icon with much of his song-writing rooted in British culture.

Weller’s solo career has seen him morph his music on each release, always moving forward to search for a new sound.

A new twist to his sound came on Heavy Soul, follow-up to million selling Stanley Road album.

Further success followed with Heliocentric and number one hit album Illumination.

Number two album of covers followed in 2004 entitled Studio 150 while further success followed with As Is Now.

In 2008 he pursued a more experimental direction with critically acclaimed double album 22 Dreams.

In 2009 this impressive back catalogue was recognised when he received a Brit award as best male solo artist.
