Having travelled the A66 many times to visit family I was until recently oblivious to the warm and welcoming hidden treasure of The Morritt
hotel located so close within the picturesque hamlet of
Greta Bridge.

The 17th century former coaching inn offers a relaxed traditional country-house atmosphere full of charm and character with friendly attentive staff who made me feel welcome the moment I arrived.

The hotel’s newly-launched luxury spa The Garage has a history of refreshing and
recharging, back in 1920s to
accommodate, refuel and repair the new motorcar; today to refresh and rejuvenate us.

With the motor theme running through its packages which include the ‘Scenic Route’, ‘Moonlit Drive’ and ‘Baby on Board’ spa days it offers a wide variety of treatments such as hair and nails in its paint shop, or a full body MOT to unwind.

Treatments can include a gleaming body scrub and polish, waxing, tinting and a large range of massages.

The spa facilities present guests with the chance to de-stress and escape so I took advantage of the new state-of-the-art facilities. Venturing into the Salt Inhalation room I immediately put my feet up and began to unwind within the tranquil atmosphere, next a cleanse in the UK’s first Shepherd Hut Log Sauna and by the time I got to the outdoor hot tub set in the beautiful secret garden I was miles away from any pressures of everyday living.

Having never experienced a Lava Shell massage I was looking forward to what sounded like a deep muscle treatment, I was not disappointed, as the therapist worked the marine polished sea shell smoothly over my body I instantly
drifted into a warm blanket falling into a state of full
relaxation and calm.

I could feel the knots healing under the heat and smoothness of the shell, which combined with the pressure of the masseuse, helped release tension in my neck, shoulders and back, all muscle tension easing away leaving me with a warm inner glow.

Gliding back to the hotel room in my newly found little bubble I was feeling refreshed and rebalanced.

The individually styled rooms with original features are part of the hotels charming character, creating comfort and continuing my unwound escape surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens.

The indulgence continued with a gorgeous dinner in the hotels award winning contemporary restaurant ‘Gilroys’, a drink in the traditional pub style bar and a nightcap in the lounge by a roaring log fire.

After a day of luxury the soft snug bed offered the perfect nights sleep.

The Morritt Hotel and Garage Spa is the ultimate country hideaway where I left feeling pampered relaxed and refreshed.
