Clare Hyde also did a six mile walk in Christian Aid week to highlight how individuals overseas coping with drought conditions face daily arduous journeys to collect fresh water supplies.

The only problem was noone could see the views as her planned open garden event to raise funds for Christian Aid was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Undeterred she decided to film a walk around the two acre south facing Ribble Valley garden and put the resulting mini film up online, inviting viewers to make a direct donation to the charity.

Clare said: “It’s the best time of year for our garden. We’ve had an amazing response. People burst into tears because they just felt released from isolation and just really enjoyed taking a few minutes out to relax and stroll through the garden.

“It’s gardened to be as wildlife friendly as possible. It’s not over manicured.”

The film included azaleas, rhododendron, bluebells and trees in blossom. See Clare’s film on YouTube by searching for Christian Aid - Open Garden
