ZERO RATED TASTE TEST: The Nile, Church Street

This takeaway dropped three stars from last year's ratings and I'm told by a Preston City Council inspector its owners are very keen to get back on track.

When I entered the takeaway the appearance of some of the benches wasn’t the best with paint flaking off and it was untidy in appearance. However the staff were very welcoming and polite.

I ordered a chicken fillet burger and chips and it wasn’t mind-blowing nor was it particularly bad.

The kitchen behind the counter looked quite clean and there were certainly no obvious signs of this business having poor hygiene standards.

And inspectors also found reason to score the takeaway a low mark after they found bosses at the takeaway did not know staff should be kept off work 48 hours after symtoms had stopped when suffering certain illnesses such as diarrhoea.

Council inspectors also found the business was storing ready to eat food with raw food, risking contamination and along with other factors, found reason to rate it zero stars.
