I’ve spotted it each time I’ve driven past, so when I spotted the scaffolding was down, the new signs were up and the huge decking area at the back was calling my name I knew it was time to visit. An early dart on Bank Holiday Monday meant we could do just that - and it did not disappoint.
The place has been completely transformed. It has been decorated and given a fresh new, welcoming look.
On our visit all of the outside seating, including the decked area and the benches dotted around were full up. Of course the sun had a lot to do with that of course, but I imagine the friendly staff, wide selection of drinks and pub favourites on the food menu have also got something to do with it. We went for lovely summer drinks, a Sol for Michael and a Apple and Raspberry J20.
We enjoyed the sunshine and people watched as visitors came and went. The pub offers a range of bottled beers, pop, ciders and lagers and three cask ales - including its own called Yew Brew from the Caledonian brewery (4.1% ABV).
When we were leaving the place was still packed with many families enjoying a pub tea.
