Battling consumer confidence and ever-changing Government rules, pubs and bars up and down the land have had a fight on their hands to keep the doors open.
All that means the pub scene in and around Preston is ever-changing with two new bars opening in the city centre on Friday night.

5. The Wellington
Experienced restaurateur Jordan Ebbs is now the new frontman of the popular city centre pub The Wellington Inn. It comes as previous manager, Andy Macdonald, who also runs Ships and Giggles on Fylde Road, announced he was letting the venue go after a stream of noise complaints.
6. The Corporation Arms
Landmark restaurant and pub the Corporation Arms is up for let. Specialist leisure sector agency Fleurets is marketing the property on Lower Road, Longridge, with a guide rent of £75,000.
7. The Rose of Farington
The Leyland pub could be converted into 10 apartments, if plans are given the green light by South Ribble Borough Council.
8. Longton
Plans have been launched for a new "high class bar" in the heart of Longton. Bar Lounge Venues Ltd - the parent company of Penwortham' s popular Lime Bar - have made an application to change the use of two vacant units at 2-6 Chapel Lane. The group also have plans to open "on the other side of Preston" in the coming year.
