It had been originally scheduled for last weekend, before organisers postponed it to September as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

Now Preston BID has decided to stage it on June 5 2021.

A spokesman said: "The past few months have been something we could never have imagined - none of us have a crystal ball, and can say for certain, that mass gatherings will be permitted by September this year.

"Events like Prestfest rely on the ability for large amounts of people to gather together, and international travel, both of which may remain a challenge for some time.

"So, Saturday 5th June 2021 is the new date for Prestfest!

"This is the safest option to allow us to deliver the event that you have grown to love, and exceed your expectations."

Acts booked included Todd Terry, StoneBridge, Route 94, and Sweet Female Attitude.

BID has managed to line up the performers' diaries and the same artists will all play the 2021 date.

Tickets will be transferred to the new date.

The spokesman added: "Thank you for your patience and support, we’ll just have to make sure we party that bit harder in 2021.."
