A pizza restaurant is celebrating the launch of its new-look premises in Preston.

Situated in Winckley Street, Pizza Express has been refurbished with an interior décor paying tribute to the area’s cotton industry, including a picture from 1935 given by the Lancashire Evening Post.

Each PizzaExpress restaurant is individually designed – often using well known places, people or historical events from the area as the basis.

The artwork displayed at Preston includes vintage photography of cotton workers in the factory environment and a series of screens reflective of the fine thread spun by a spinning mule. Manager Lisa Jefferson said: “We have a friendly and enthusiastic team who are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our beautifully refurbished restaurant over a delicious pizza.”

The restaurant’s latest menu boasts classic Italian style as well a wider range of low-calorie Leggera dishes, which contain fewer than 500 calories. There are also 10 new dishes including four new gluten-free options and a cheese-free pizza, suitable for vegans. The restaurant runs free visits for local primary schools.
