Escaping the rain

Sunday mornings in our house are possibly my favourite day of the week. I like waking up naturally, no alarm, nothing to get up for.

And that is exactly how my Sunday morning had panned out. I had hoped to wake up to glorious sunshine, the possibility of a day trip was on the cards too. But when I finally woke up it was absolutely lashing it down.

After a lazy morning and a pretty slow start we decided we would go to the cinema, but first we would go to the pub.

We had set our sights on going to the The Bridge Inn on London Road in Walton-le-Dale but when we got there it was closed. There was no sign of a life, with curtains half drawn and a parasol broken and blowing the beer garden.

Anyway, we headed to the Shawes Arms up the road on the other side, after negotiating the car park we finally settled down with half a cider and a J20. The pub is really cosy and welcoming inside. It was packed with young lads, maybe from Sunday morning football.

It was the busiest pub we have been in for a while and being next to the River Ribble I bet it is a popular one with walkers when the sun is
shining. Maybe next time we visit it will be.
