The fast food giant reopened its branch at Grimshaw Retail Park, Blackburn, today as part of its phased re-opening plan for eateries up and down the country.

The restaurant is open for delivery and drive through customers only and is serving a limited menu..

Orders can be placed via Deliveroo and Just Eat as well as the branch's drive through order point.

It is the start of a nationwide programme which aims to see Burger King re-opening 350 restaurants by the end of June

A number of protocols have been put in place to safeguard the health of employees and customers, following operational testing.

These include additional PPE such as masks and gloves for staff, stringent cleaning measures, contactless delivery options all Burger King staff undergoing training on the Government’s social distancing measures, including how to run kitchens hygienically, whilst abiding by them.

Among the food available on the reduced menu are Chicken Royale, Bacon Double Cheeseburger and Whopper.

Katie Evans, marketing director at Burger King UK said: “We are so pleased to be able to open more restaurants this week and slowly but surely get back to ‘normal’, ensuring all safety measures are in place."
