A woman had a lucky escape after she drove into a garden wall and smashed into the side of a house.
The lady’s green Toyota Corolla veered off the road and collided with the house at 12.08pm today on Beacon Drive, Goosnargh, near Preston.
The lady escaped with minor injuries but Lancashire fire service’s Urban Search and Rescue Team from Chorley rushed to the scene to join colleagues from Preston fire service to make sure the house did not collapse.
A spokesman for Lancashire fire service said: “We received a call reporting that a car had left the road, gone through a garden wall and had come to rest after hitting a house wall.
“Nobody was trapped in the car but smoke was said to be coming from it.
“The lady driving the car was shocked and had sustained minor injuries.
“There was no fire to extinguish, the smoke seen was probably steam from a fractured radiator.
“The Urban Search and Rescue Team were called in to undertake temporary shoring-up of the house wall to make sure it did not collapse before the contractors could come in to fix it.”
