Santa Claus thought he was seeing double when he popped along to a church hall party. For there before his eyes were 18 sets of twins. But a magician entertaining more than 40 youngsters at Lyons Lane Church Hall in Chorley had not cast a spell - Santa had walked in on the Chorley and Leyland Twins Club Christmas party

The newest recruits to a town's successful Morris Dancing troupe are proving they are winners. For the newly-formed Leyland Legionnaires tinies dancing team have returned triumphant from their first public compettion. The youngsters, all aged between six and 11 years, began dancing together last December. Only four of them had danced before. And at the Mossbrook competition they danced away with third prize and a medal each

Soccer mad schoolgirls Alison O'Donnell and Julie Norris got a first class reply to their letter to a local football club. The 11-year-old pupils from the Seven Stars Junior School in Chorley wrote to their favourite team (after Manchester United) Leyland Motors asking for pictures of the players. The club did better than that. They invited the girls down to Thurston Road where chairman Kevin Kirkby presented them with a colour photo of the Motors team before their match against Stalybridge Celtic
