Television series behind the scenes at Preston's maternity unit set for screen

Preston's new born babies are the stars of a new fly-on-the wall documentary on television starting tonight.

'Maternity Ward’ follows the real-life, journey of expectant parents and the staff who care for them on Royal Preston Hospital’s maternity unit.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals worked in collaboration with producers at Chalkboard TV on the six -part series, which is made up of hour-long episodes.

Sarah Cullen, nursing, midwifery and AHP Director at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We were absolutely delighted to be approached to take part in this fantastic series, as it gave us the opportunity to showcase the caring and comforting experience our midwifery teams provide every day.

"Becoming a parent is such a life-changing milestone, and we hope that local families see the high standards of care we offer and choose us as the place to have their baby. We can’t wait to watch it.”

‘Maternity Ward’ will air on 5STAR on March 2 from 9pm-10pm.
