Tonisha Drew, 20, moved to Preston to live on University of Central Lancashire's campus to study as a student nurse two years ago, and returned back to her mum's home in Cleveleys and her dad's home in South Shore every weekend before the coronavirus lockdown was imposed.

After previous placements alongside NHS staff during the pandemic, she decided to create male and female care packs filled with toiletries to help them.

Now she is appealing to the public for help with donations of shower gel, bars of soap, lip balm, hand cream, socks and deodorant for RPH staff.

She said: "I wanted to give something back to the hospital, and I knew how much some of the nurses and doctors there were struggling after long shifts.

"I donated some items of my own, and after asking for toiletries online I received enough from kind strangers to make around 10 packs for women and 10 for men. I was shocked as I didn't think I'd receive any responses.

"Now I'd really like to get as many made up as possible and donate them to wards dealing with Covid-19 patients. I know how much it will mean to the staff to be gifted these boxes and they deserve it after working so hard."
