A purpose-built NHS flu vaccination centre is set to to open in Preston within weeks

The unit will based at Preston Grasshoppers rugby club and will be open for two weeks between September 28 and October 11.

The Lancashire Vaccination Centre is believed to be one of the first of its kind in the UK.

Open from 8am until 8pm, the centre is being built to offer Covid-safe, efficient vaccinations at scale with ample parking to manage the expected number of patients.

Michael Ball, service lead said: “It is vital that as many of the over 65 years age group and other at risk groups as possible receive an NHS flu vaccination this winter.

that might have for individuals, communities and the NHS. We have set up this centre to help provide a facility that can protect the population of Lancashire at this critical time.’

Booking an NHS flu vaccination at the Lancashire Vaccination Centre has been made as simple as possible with online booking while telephone booking is also available for those who would prefer.

advised people that to help avoid spreading the flu this winter there are some simple steps we can all take that are recommended by the NHS:

Wash your hands often with warm water and soap

Use tissues to trap germs when you cough or sneeze

Bin used tissues as quickly as possible and wash your hands afterwards.

The centre is open during the early part of the flu season to help people protect themselves before the infection takes hold.
