UK coronavirus death toll surpasses 11,000 as 744 more deaths are confirmed

A further 744 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died in the past 24 hours it was announced this afternoon (April 14).

The total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England has now risen to 11,005.

In a statement Public Health England said: "A further 744 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 11,005.

"Patients were aged between 34 and 102 years old.

"58 of the 744 patients (aged between 38 and 96 years old) had no known underlying health condition."

Of those, 122 occurred yesterday (April 13), 319 on Sunday (April 12), and 132 on Saturday (April 11).

Some 164 happened between April 1 and 10, and the remaining seven occurred in March.

59 people have now died at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, up from 42 on Sunday (April 12).

45 people have died at hospitals run by the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals trust, Preston and Chorley.

110 have died at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

The figures do not include deaths in care homes, which will be reported daily after fresh data showed around 10 per cent of deaths registered up to April 3 in England and Wales were outside hospitals.
