How many people have died after catching coronavirus in Lancashire?

The figures, published by NHS England, include patients who died in hospital and had tested positive for the coronavirus at the time of their death.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which covers the Royal Preston Hospital, and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have both had 16 patients die after testing positive for Covid-19.

Thursday (April 2) saw the single highest daily total posted for the county, with 10 deaths. Four were in Blackpool, four in East Lancashire and two in Preston.

As of Sunday (April 5), 4,934 people had died after contracting Covid-19 in the UK, with 47,806 confirmed cases.

In Lancashire, 855 people have tested positive. Of those patients, 726 are in the Lancashire County Council area, 66 in Blackpool and 63 in Blackburn.
