Blackpool and Preston see the biggest daily increase in cases as Lancashire records 466 new infections

The total number of confirmed cases in Lancashire since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 179,924 as of Monday, August 2.

There have now been 139,539 confirmed cases in the Lancashire County Council area since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest government data released today (August 2).

Meanwhile, the total across Lancashire, including Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen, now stands at 179,924.

This is how many coronavirus cases there have been in each area of Lancashire

The so-called "freedom day" went ahead on July 19.

Officials acknowledged that Covid-19 cases and deaths would continue to increase - albeit at a much lower level than before the vaccination programme - but it was now necessary to find a new way to live with the virus.

Blackpool - 14,850 (Up from 14,769) +81

Burnley - 13,728 (Up from 13,694) +34

Chorley - 12,005 (Up from 11,979) +26

Fylde - 7,313 (Up from 7,300) +13

Hyndburn - 11,601 (Up from 11,581) +20

Lancaster - 13,455 (Up from 13,415) +40

Pendle - 12,655 (Up from 12,633) +22

Preston - 18,784 (Up from 18,724) +60

Ribble Valley - 6,702 (Up from 6,682) +20

Rossendale - 9,361 (Up from 9,349) +12

South Ribble - 11,844 (Up from 11,813) +31

West Lancs - 11,946 (Up from 11,898) +48
