As soon as the last bell sounded, the Year Six tutor from Ashbridge School in Hutton jetted off to the USA.

She is one of five British teachers invited to this year’s Discovery Education Summer Institute, one of the most celebrated education programmes in the United States.

Chosen for her enthusiasm and creativity in teaching with technology, Kate is joining more than 100 educators at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.

Now in its 13th year, the Discovery Education Summer Institute connects teachers from around the world to share the latest ideas and technology through professional development and networking.

Entry is by invitation only, and delegates are recognised as digital leaders.

Kate said: “I was absolutely thrilled to be chosen for this unique opportunity and can’t wait to share and learn from teachers across the globe.

Kate, who has previously worked as a Fellow at Harvard University in the US , was recently invited to share her expertise with other UK teachers
