Table win for teen carpenter Jamie
The Preston’s College student was one of more than 100 who apprentices took part in the regional heats before seven finalists were selected to complete their own upcycling project.
The teenager’s winning project was the Infinity Table, made entirely from recycled wooden pallets.

Hide AdJamie, 16 (above), made the table by stripping and de-nailing old pallets, cleaning the timber and creating interlocking joints to form the table.
He used Gorilla Glue throughout the project.
The finished table provides the effect of a mine shaft when the light is switched on inside. Jamie also made a little ladder insert into the table, to support the effect.
Jamie said: “I wanted to create something eye-catching, that would stand out from normal coffee tables and I felt that the infinity table would certainly do that.”
