Students sent home from Ashton Community Science College due to COVID-19
A high school in Preston has sent all of its Year 10 students home today (October 21) after a confirmed case of COVID-19.
Ashton Community Science College (formerly Ashton-on-Ribble High School) in Aldwych Drive sent the students home just minutes after they arrived at school this morning.
Efforts are ongoing to identify those children who might have been exposed to the contagious person.
Just yesterday, some Year 11 and Year 8 students were sent home due to separate and unrelated cases of COVID-19 within the year groups.
Most of these students have returned to class today, but those pupils who have been identified as coming into close contact with the infected person remain self-isolating at home.
The school provides an online form for parents whose children have tested positive. Parents can access the form here.
Headteacher Mrs Sharon Asquith has been approached for comment.
