Penwortham school children win prizes in short story competition
Pupils from a Penwortham school took part in a short story competition to encourage their love of reading.
Pupils from Penwortham Primary School took part in the competition which was run by McCarthy Stone’s Hardwick Grange Retirement Living development.
One winner and two runners-up received book tokens for their efforts so they can continue to enjoy reading.
Sophie Pennington, aged 10, was the winner of the competition whilst Ronnie Wilson, aged 5, and Oscar Guo, aged 8, were runners-up.
Deborah Bond, marketing executive at McCarthy Stone, said: “The enthusiasm and confidence from the children in telling their stories has been great fun to witness.
"We thoroughly enjoyed reading through them all, and although it took us a long time, every single one of them was a delight.
"We have some very talented writers in Penwortham and it was hard to pick just one winner.
“We want to say a big thank you to the pupils and teachers at Penwortham Primary for taking the time to share their creativity with us.”
