Penwortham Girl's High School is top of the class
Penwortham Girls High School is celebrating after being named among the cream of the county’s schools
Headteacher Karen Pomeroy received a letter from Lancashire’s Interim Executive Director for Education, following the publication of the latest secondary performance tables, congratulating the Cop Lane school on the 2018 examination results.
The letter specifically referred to the amount of progress achieved by their students.
Penwortham Girls’ High School is a top performing community school in Lancashire for their Progress eight score, with pupils from all abilities making exceptional progress from their relative starting points.
The headteacher said such an achievement as this is not just a result of fantastic teaching and hard work.
It’s also built upon the warm, mutually supportive teacher-pupil relationships built over five years, as well as the unstinting support of our parents.
She added: “I’m so proud of the class of 2018; they’ve continued our tradition of excellent results and once again demonstrated that Penwortham Girls High School means success.”
School is also toasting the success of a special party which saw the school hall filled with local pensioners.
Throughout the morning pupils delivered dance, drama and musical performances, while the guests were treated to a slap-up lunch.
The school also raised £614.64 for The Royal British Legion after pupils took to the stage to perform in a concert to mark the centenary of the end of the First World war.
It was open to families and the public.
