Nursery to shine light on its young charges

Preston's newest day nursery has opened the city's first purpose-built sensory room.

The facility, at Bluebells Private Day Nursery in Longsands Lane, Fulwood, features 
state-of-the-art sensory equipment which allows children to experience, moving colours and shapes, bubble tubes, sparkling lights and even a fibre optic carpet.

The room, also boasting a large glowing ball pool, has been specially designed to enhance children’s sensory skills, hand-eye co-ordination, levels of concentration, alertness and calmness.

The nursery, next to Longsands Primary School, caters for babies to five year olds and is housed in the former Silver Birches nursery and school premises.

It has large newly refurbished play rooms, new toys and equipment, a secure outdoor play area and a nursery minibus for fun day trips.

Nursery manager Saima Hussain, who has been managing nurseries for four years, said: “The Bluebells team have been working hard over the summer to create a nursery that’s safe, stimulating and full of fun.

“We’ve already had visits from parents and carers who have given really positive feedback and have secured their children’s places with us.

“Families are more than welcome to pop in to see us without an appointment or can call us to arrange a tour of the nursery. We’ll also be posting information about upcoming open evenings on the Bluebells Facebook page.”

She added that the nursery is also setting up an after school club bit children up to eight years old.
