Lecturer is among top award finalists

A leading Lancaster academic is in the running for a major national award.

Lecturer Dr Shuruq Naguib is among the finalists in The British Muslim Awards presented by Al Rayan Bank.

Organisers say thousands of nominations received from the public for accolades, making it apparent that British Muslims across the nation are waving the flag of success.

he fourth annual awards aim to recognise a wide range of achievements, covering various aspects of society, including business, charity, sport, arts and culture and much more.

Egyptian-born Dr Naquib has been shortlisted in the Religious Advocate of the Year category.

She is an acclaimed, widely published author and has been invited to attend a glittering award ceremony in Birmingham tonight

Dr Patrick Bishop, head of the department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion at Lancaster University said:

“It certainly adds to the department’s reputation for having an impact in the local, national and international community.”

A total of 22 awards will be presented tonight.
