Lancaster University graduate and TV presenter to make Strictly Come Dancing debut this weekend

Lancaster University will be cheering on one of their graduates this Saturday as Ranvir Singh gives her debut performance on Strictly Come Dancing.

Journalist and TV presenter Ranvir will be paired with Italian dancer and choreographer Giovanni Pernice in the BBC1 show at 7.25pm on October 24.

They are among 12 celebrity and professional dancer couples taking part in the weekly series, which runs until December 19.

Ranvir, 43, was a student of Pendle College at Lancaster University and graduated in 1998 with a degree in English and philosophy.

Now she is Chancellor of the University of Central Lancashire, where she gained a postgraduate diploma.

She is a newsreader on ITN and a presenter on ITV's Good Morning Britain.
