Each year only 2,000 institutions worldwide are selected to receive this award which is then to be presented to a student in their first year of studies at the College. The schools and College’s which are selected are deemed by Harvard to be outstanding educational institutions, so the College is extremely proud to be considered so highly by the Ivy League University.

The college must now select a Year 12 student who is “academically excellent with exceptional personal qualities, who makes a significant contribution to their school/college or community”.

Teachers from across the college are being asked to nominate students whom they feel fit the bill and are outstanding ambassadors for Cardinal Newman.

“The winning student will then be selected by principal Nick Burnham.

Nick said: “We as a college are delighted to receive this honour again and it will certainly be a significant achievement for the student who wins the award.

“This accolade will undoubtedly add considerably to any University application they make for their studies post Newman.”

Last years’ winner, Natasha Godsiff has a conditional offer of a place at Cambridge University to read Law.
