Honours degree is the right tonic

At 18 she started nurse training at Blackpool Victoria Hospital rising to the ranks of senior sister - now nurse practitioner.

The Health Heroes Nurse of the Year , from Southport, has worked in Blackpool’s hospital A&E department for 23 years and for the past three years has been at the Whitegate Drive walk-in centre.

Last week, the 46-year-oldmum of two, graduated from UCLan with a Bsc Honours degree.

Her proud parents Rita and Peter Wood still live in Leyland.
