College opens up for careers event

Would-be school leavers are being offered a chance to see what the world of work has to offer.

Coinciding with National Apprenticeship Week, Preston’s College is hosting a special careers fair on Wednesday.

Around 50 key employers will be at the event, run in partnership with the Lancashire Chamber of Commerce’s Young Chamber and aimed at students, year 11 pupils and their parents.

The event will be held inthe Fulwood College’s In Zone Centre where young people will have the opportunity to speak to local employers and learn about what skills they need to join the workplace.

Workshops at the event will offer advice on CV enhancement and interview preparation as well as a forecast on when local jobs will appear in the coming years. Attendees will also be able to speak with employers and even apply for more than 100 apprenticeship vacancies the college is currently advertising. It runs from 1pm – 7pm on March 16.
