Cardinal Newman College set for new glass entrance

A state-of-the-art glass entrance is going to be built at Cardinal Newman College to ease congestion worries.

Planning agents behind the application, Walsingham Planning Limited, noted that the main entrance on the corner of Manchester Road and Larkhill Road was becoming “congested at peak times due to its narrow nature”.

The new entrance, set to be built between St Wilfrid Building and St Bede Building in Larkhill Road, will subsequently provide “a high quality, well designed, safe and fit for purpose point of access into the college as well as helping to address existing congestion issues”, according to Walsingham.

Preston Council planning officers found no issue with the new entrance and agreed that it would improve the flow of students and staff.

The college is also set to bring new signage to the west side of the St Bede Building, if approval is given.
