A special webinar has been organised by the Fylde Coast Responsible Business Network to help businesses understand how they can get involved and what funding is available for those who offer opportunities to young people.

Businesses and charities from right across the Fylde Coast - from Blackpool to Kirkham, Fleetwood to Lytham, and all places in between - are encouraged to take part.

Experts on traineeships, apprenticeships and the new Kickstart scheme will be advising businesses on how the initiatives work to help young people gain vital employability skills including six-month quality work placements.

The aim is that by the end of the one-hour webinar - which takes place on Tuesday, August 11, at 10am - that businesses will have gained a full understanding of what’s involved, how they can benefit, and how they can help young people.

Michelle Walker, Project Manager for the Fylde Coast Responsible Business Network, said: “We know businesspeople are very busy and have a lot on their plates, and we know many are facing challenges at this time.

“But we also know from the wide range of businesspeople we talk to that they genuinely want to help young people and give them a foot up on the career ladder.

“There are a range of initiatives which have been launched to help make this happen.

“We know it can sometimes be difficult, and time-consuming for businesses to access this information quickly and easily, and to get their questions answered.

“That’s why we thought of putting on this webinar, so that by just setting aside one hour, businesses are able to find out exactly what they want to know from the experts.

“It might be something a business has not considered, but funding is available and this is a chance to find out how to access that help.

“This very much fits into the work we do at the Responsible Business Network with two of our campaigns to raise aspirations for young people and get them work ready, and in helping get unemployed people into work.”

The webinar panel includes: Janet Jackson, Technical Education Project Manager, Lancashire Skills Hub – Introduction and insights into the evolving picture for young people across Lancashire and Blackpool.
