Supermarket giant recruiting for new Lancashire stadium site

The German company is the latest business to take space at the new £18m Mill Farm Sports Village taking shape in Wesham.

The retailer is recruiting for staff ahead of its opening in June as part of an expansion programme which will see it open in a number of Lancashire locations including Poulton, Blackpool, Chorley and Preston.

The move comes as work progresses on the site which will also feature a hotel and restaurants when it opens in June.

Aldi operations director James Knott said the Mill Farm site was an ‘exciting’ opportunity for the international retailer.

He added: “The Mill Farm development will bring an unrivalled experience to the North West and we are excited to be a part of such an ambitious leisure village, which we feel will become a real hub for the local community.

The 1,140 sq m Kirkham store will be one of Aldi’s larger format stores. Mill Farm owner David Haythornthwaite is keen to hear from other businesses interested in being a part of the leisure development.

He said: “We still have spaces available – in prominent locations with easy access – and are talking now to parties about being part of Mill Farm’s future.

“We’re committed to the local area and are delighted to be welcoming Aldi to the development. We’ll be working closely together to ensure we provide an excellent facility for the local community and play an important role in the rejuvenation of the Fylde Coast for generations to come.”
