Staff member suffers "severe injury" at new Buckshaw Village takeaway

A staff member has suffered a "severe injury" at a recently opened takeaway in Buckshaw Village yesterday evening (Thursday, December 10).

Management at A Taste of Thailand in Barnes Wallis Way, near the Tesco superstore, alerted customers to the incident in its kitchen at 5.30pm.

The takeaway told customers: "Food is going to be delayed by some time unfortunately. This is due to a severe injury occurring in the kitchen.

"We are awaiting an ambulance to arrive and will update everyone shortly. We are extremely sorry about this."

The takeaway has not provided further details on the incident, but an ambulance attended the scene and a male member of staff has been taken to hospital.

An ambulance spokesman said: "We received a call at 5.31pm and attended the scene with a number of resources including an ambulance and rapid response car.

"A male patient was taken to hospital."

A Taste of Thailand opened its Buckshaw Village takeaway to much fan-fare on Friday, November 27, following the success of its Thai street food bar in Friargate, Preston.

Management at the takeaway and North West Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.

Lancashire Police said its officers were not asked to attend the scene.
