Daredevil staff from the centre’s stores will ‘brave the shave’ in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and Derian House Children’s Hospice in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the two causes.

The charity stunt is part of the One Great Day campaign which runs nationwide in June.

And, shopping centre bosses are now calling on customers to take part in its One Great Shave as well.

Kind students from Preston’s College barbering course will do the honours alongside staff from Supercuts and Mask Brow Bar, which are both based in the centre.

General manager at St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer, said: “Over the past few weeks we have asked every retailer in St George’s to nominate at least one member of staff to take part and we have been blown away by the response.

“We want to raise as much money as possible for these two charities to allow them to continue and expand on the fantastic services they offer to families when they need them the most.

“We thought our One Great Shave would be the perfect opportunity to help raise these much needed funds and we are counting on people across the city to support us.

“I’ll be joining in on the day too and would encourage people across the city to come and join me doing something unusual yet worthwhile for these charities.”

For those who aren’t daring enough to brave the shave there will also be a sponsored leg and back wax taking place on the day too – all in exchange for a donation.
